The Day - 'The Kids Are Alright'

8/10

Ever since they first arrived on the scene, progressive dream-pop duo The Day have always looked to cultivate a more alluring presence than many in their field. Building upon what has already been a truly absorbing time during their tenure as they masterfully conjure up one enchanting delight after another, these last few months have seen them deliver some of their most passionate releases to date. And with their ascent continuing to grow, they return to unveil their wondrous new album 'The Kids Are Alright', a record that continues that vibrant direction once again.

What most stands out about their aesthetic this time around is its easygoing flow that perfectly heightens their euphoric songwriting at every turn. Creating this beautifully natural and organic texture that effortlessly suits their soaring vocal presence throughout, 'The Kids Are Alight' finds the pair in a renewed spirit from beginning to end. Whether its the lofty appeal of 'Nemesis' or the anthemic energy behind 'Sidelines', The Day make light work of their newest material, showcasing a flurry majestic tones as often as possible.

It may have been five years since their previous LP ‘Midnight Parade’, but 'The Kids Are Alight' shows that these two are still very much looking to deliver something new and fascinating here. With hardly a moment that doesn't look to engage or intrigue, The Day are back to their best and delivering some of their most captivating work so far.
