The Dead Weather - 'Dodge & Burn'

6/10

Having been five years since the alternative supergroup The Dead Weather last released an album, you'd have thought that that phase of their respective careers had passed. But now after a number of single releases this time last year, the band are back with their third studio album 'Dodge & Burn', and it sounds they haven't lost that aggressive edge just yet.

While their first two albums were more focused on Jack White's contribution to the music, this release sees frontwoman Alison Mosshart take the reins in a full and confident way, as this release takes on the style of a more traditional band where each member knows their place and isn't trying to steal the show on each track. The result is an album that creates a far more cohesive sound, all while keeping that irreverent Dead Weather disposition.

It may not be the full blood and sweat return a lot of their fans were expecting, but definitely does a positive job in creating an evolution from their last albums and shows that they have grown on from their first two releases. Hopefully the next record won't require such a long wait.
