Dillon & Batsauce - 'What Have We Done'

7/10

Having each had their own diverse career in the progressive hip-hop arena this past decade, both Dillon and Batsauce have found themselves coming together more often than most. With their distinctive flair for jazz-inspired rap grooves, reminiscent of early Jurassic 5 and DJ Format, the duo have found themselves as one of the more in-demand units of the last few years. And with a flurry of collaborations arriving in the last few months, they are now back once again with their fifth project 'What Have We Done', a record that builds upon their dynamic foundations of late.

Continuing that smooth and progressive aesthetic they have harnessed over the years, 'What Have We Done' sits as one of their most ambitious releases to date. Coming in at an astonishing seventeen tracks in length, the pair are firing on all cylinders as they look to deliver a fresh and eclectic listen this time around. Keeping very much to that core flow they have been cultivating lately, this new outing sees them return to the fold in fine form throughout, venturing across a varied and diverse direction as they go.

Both Dillon and Batsauce may bring something unique and original to this new offering, but 'What Have We Done' shows us exactly why they keep looking to work together so often. Brimming with this warm and immersive appeal from start to finish, they make light work of this passionate return throughout.

What Have We Done is available now via Full Plate. In addition digital retailers and streaming platforms, the album is also available on vinyl, CD, and cassette, with various merch available including T-shirts and collectable keychains, through both their website and Bandcamp.
