Ed Prosek - 'The Foreigner'

8/10

Throughout the last decade, Berlin-based Californian singer-songwriter Ed Prosek has been seen as one of the more progressive names working the scene today. After a wondrous array of delights these last few years, he has quickly cemented himself as a beautifully emotive artist, brimming with rich and tender textures throughout his work. And after an already prolific period these last few months, he looks to establish his latest guise with the new EP 'The Foreigner', a release that continues these expressive ideals.

Featuring a wealth of new outings from the year so far, ending what was a two-year break for the frontman, 'The Foreigner' looks to highlight some of his more heartfelt and intimate songwriting throughout. Largely influenced by his place as an American trying to find his place in one of Europe's most creative capital cities, this new six-track collection offers up a brilliantly transportive direction. Keeping his acoustic-led aesthetic the heart and soul of the release, he taps into some of his most endearing lyrics and compositions of his career so far.

While much of this new EP arrived as singles throughout 2023, hearing all of it together really adds breadth and levity to his current state of mind. 'The Foreigner' stands as a strong and confident return that only adds to his already highly-regarded presence once again.
