Edie Yvonne - 'Girl Code'

7/10

Over these last few years, LA-based artist Edie Yvonne has certainly made a strong and permanent imprint on the new music scene. Still just 15 years old, she has spent recent months churning out this broad and diverse array of releases, all looking to build upon what has come before, and establish her as one of the more exciting names on the rise today. And after so much praise and acclaim for her recent efforts, she is now looking to cement this era within her sound with her eagerly-awaited debut EP 'Girl Code', a collection that beams with rich and stellar offerings throughout.

Featuring the previously shared gems '15 (When I Leave)', 'Delusion', 'Queen Bee' and its dynamic title-track, 'Girl Code' aims to project a snapshot of her recent ingenuity. Exploring a wide and diverse array of influences that see her meld classic pop-rock swagger with a vibrant, commercially-angled edge at every turn, this six-track outing really harnesses the sheer energy she has looked to inject into everything she does. Brimming with fresh and captivating ideas as it plays, she looks to follow in the footsteps of Olivia Rodrigo as the next pop starlet on the international stage.

While it doesn't have much in the way of clear radio-friendly anthems, 'Girl Code' has plenty of fun and lively moments to stick your teeth into. Bringing out the best in her direction these last few months, Edie Yvonne is certainly making a bold and confident statement with this release.
