With their highly-anticipated new album landing in the coming months, Flamingods have now dropped the next cut to be lifted from their forthcoming full-length.
The new single 'Tall Glass' comes accompanied by a stunning new video, directed by Tanmay Chowdhary, and follows on from the previously shared tracks ‘Gutterball’ and ‘Dreams (On The Strip)’ in previewing their new LP 'Head Of Pomegranate', which is out on the 13th October via The Liquid Label.
Speaking about the new offering, the band's Charles Prest said, “Musically we were inspired by my Afro roots here, musicians from the 70s and 80s like William Onyeabor, Steve Monite and Letta Mbulu – who were putting out Afro-synth bangers and fusing electronica with funk, disco and pop. We’re quite lucky as a band as we have a whole melting pot of cultural inspirations to pull from. As well as our collective eight nationalities we’ve also lived in London for the whole existence of the band which in itself is a culturally diverse and inspiring city. I think this comes through on ‘Tall Glass’, it’s one of our favourite tunes from the record.”
While director Chowdhary added about the visuals, “The treatment of the film Tall Glass is inspired by the all-male Turkish gambling bars where the happenings are kept a secret from the outside world. We wanted to flip the idea of this space over its head by having a female-led gang of gamblers and revolve the story around a trade of pomegranates that go wrong.”
