What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Troy: The first instrument I fell in love with was the guitar, and I think that shows on the Carlos Santana style noodling on Soul Searching.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Très Chill: Growing up as a kid it was mostly Indie music and then Hip Hop.
Troy: I was brought up on French music.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Très Chill: For me it was 50 Cent – Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which is a certified classic.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Troy: The Weeknd – Wicked Games.. this song is a masterpiece which has aged like fine wine. For me the dark RnB era of his music is timeless, and still sounds brand new even to this day.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Très Chill: In all honesty, not really. We just get in the studio and jam, our best stuff naturally comes out of those sessions.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Très Chill: Luedji Luna, Paula Tape and Haroldo Bontempo have been on repeat.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Troy: 1000% Black Coffee.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Troy: Seeing people enjoy the music just as much as we did making it.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Troy: Feeling unheard!
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Très Chill: Don’t overthink it. I think musicians and artists are natural perfectionists, and sometimes that pursuit of perfection can end up becoming a set back.
