What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The piano!
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I first fell in love with the Beatles - my mum gave me her old iPod to listen to on the way to school and it only had 1 album on it by the Beatles so that was the soundtrack to my childhood.
What was the first album you remember owning?
The first album I ever bought was Overexposed by Maroon 5 - this led to my first ever live performance when I was about 8 years old singing Payphone at the school talent show.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Has anyone ever written anything for you - by Stevie Nicks - in my opinion one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I love to go away somewhere random for a couple days and put my phone of, take in the scenery talk to new people and just absorb life from a different perspective for a while - I think the detachment from the reality of day to day life really helps my creativity.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Dominic Fike - I just think his music is so cool & interesting - everything about it from production to vocally is just awesome.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
The 1975 - of all the artists I’ve seen live I think they have the most insane live show and would recommend to everyone.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Definitely the feeling in the studio when a good song is starting to find together!
And what is the most frustrating part?
TikTok! I feel there’s so much pressure on musicians to spend just as much time promoting the music on tiktok than making it and I feel for many artists it zaps the life out of the creative side of things.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
You can always write a better song.
