What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

My voice.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Bjork was my first love, she was the first artist I ever heard until that point, that seemed fully authentic. Apart from her I listened to a lot of alternative electronic music, punk, Nirvana, Depeche Mode, Miles Davis and a ton of classical music as I come from a classical music background. Quite a mix I know.

What was the first album you remember owning?

Björk Homogenic

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

None. I believe we all have our unique frequency to offer to this world and I'm happy about other beautiful songs being written by other people and my songs being written by me. I don't feel anything lacking.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I'm not ever trying … I'm either doing it or not doing it. ;-) For me it's about being available as an antenna to allow a source download to come through or to follow a creative surge that emerges in my being. Most of the songs I wrote so far came to me that way. To bring them to life I usually sit by the piano and flow write, allowing the song to write itself. During the editing process I do my best to serve the song that wants to be birthed without getting in the way.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

In recent years it has been mostly silence. Im focusing more on my output then input at the moment.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

In a universe where anything is possible, I'd skip the opening part and go straight for headline shows. In terms of who could open for me… maybe Iniko, Willow Smith or FKA Twigs could be a good fit. I've been out of the music industry for a while, so I'm yet to look around and see who has emerged meanwhile.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Being able to positively impact a lot of beings. .. and having all the creative fun that comes with creating music and everything that supports it.

And what is the most frustrating part?

All the back-end non-creative things that are always part of any successful creative endeavour…

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

I don't remember any one specific awesome piece of advice, what I do remember though is a lot of well meaning people telling me what I should do and most of them being wrong. In retrospect I realised that the best advice and course of action for anyone really, shall come from deep within themselves, as only we know what's best for our unique design. When we deeply listen and tune into our heart and soul, we find all the answers and all the advice we need.
