What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Drums. Probably why my only band member is a drummer. I think the one thing that drew me into the drums was the fact that it’s the backbone to any song. It dictates the rhythm. Also the aggression you could express on drums is unmatched.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Between growing up in Malta and living in London, I was exposed to various styles of music. It’s hard to pick one because I had many different phases. HipHop was definitely my first love but it gradually shifted to rock music and a few years of electronic music after that. Regardless my phase, hiphop and R&B was still part of my daily rotation.

What was the first album you remember owning?

I don’t remember exactly which was my first album but I could remember the first batch of albums I had and they included, Santana Supernatural, Linkin Park Hybrid Theory, Eminem The Slim Shady LP and Nirvana Nevermind… One of those had to be the first one haha.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Damn there’s a few.. Off the top of my head I was say “Jon Bellion, Good Things Fall Apart”. I dunno what it is about that record but it’s perfect.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Not really.. Only thing I do is ensure that I am not forcing the process. Having a home studio and constant access to my equipment is key. I cannot put a schedule on creativity so I just make sure I can make music whenever inspiration hits. I’ve also learnt that the days i’m not making music is also valuable as i’m soaking up inspiration.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I fluctuate between artists and genres all the time but right now my top 5 in rotation are:
Mike.
J Cole
Saint Jhn
Croosh
Mac Miller

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Based off audience and sound, I would love to open up for Mike. or Russ.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Connecting with people through the songs I write. Knowing that my music is having such a positive impact on someone’s life is a feeling that I cannot explain.

And what is the most frustrating part?

I’m not a fan of the politics behind the scenes.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Don’t miss opportunities because it looks different to how you imagined it.
