After recently following up their much-loved 2023 LP 'Sweet Melancholy' with their stunning comeback single 'Sugar Free' earlier this year, Australian outfit Dolce Blue return to the fold once again with their breezy new single 'Typical Kind Of Fun'.
Capturing more of that rich and woozy indie-rock aesthetic they have become synonymous for over the years, 'Typical Kind Of Fun' makes for an incredibly warm and inviting listen. With its sprawling textures set to some wondrous vocals throughout, they continue to shine as one of the more passionate names doing the rounds right now.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The Piano. My dad has an old upright Beale piano that’s always sat in our lounge room and I spent most of my childhood playing it.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I loved, and still love anything that I could sing along to. I’ve been very fortunate that my parents exposed me to such a variety of music growing up from Elvis, Billie Holiday, to the more contemporary pop hits throughout the 2000s-2010s like Shakira and Mariah Carey.
What was the first album you remember owning?
It was either Delta Goodrem’s ‘Innocent Eyes’ or Mariah Carey's 'Music Box’. Both got played to death on my little CD boom box.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Black Beauty by Lana Del Rey.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Not really. I always keep my mind open for inspiration when writing, so it could come to me at any time. I do like to keep my phone handy so I can write lyrics down or voice record ideas!
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
At the moment it’s Kali Uchis, Chappell Roan, Måneskin, Florence and The Machine and Billie Eilish.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Lana Del Rey.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Making the music itself! I love writing, being in the studio, and getting to play alongside my best friends.
And what is the most frustrating part?
The constant work that goes into having to promote the band and the music.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
To not get caught up in streaming, popularity and comparing myself to others, just keep making the musicI love because I love to do it.
