What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

The guitar, without a doubt! My parents encouraged me to pick up an instrument, and who could resist an electric? The moment I plugged in and turned the amp up as loud as I could, I entered my rock phase. The guitar has always been my tool to express myself. From delicate notes to overdriven aggression, it suits my personality.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Alternative rock and folk rock. I never listened exclusively to one genre. You're like a sponge when everything is new, so the radio was always on at home and in the car. But influential figures I keep coming back to would be Neil Young, Damien Rice, Simon and Garfunkel.

What was the first album you remember owning?

"Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction." I loved that album; Slash became my guitar hero, so naturally, I learnt all the solos.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

"Ophelia" by The Lumineers. Production, lyrics, melody, etc... It has it all. My dream would be to tour with them.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I've realised as I've gotten older that I have to be emotionally moved or have a physical reaction to write with purpose, to get something off my chest. When I was younger, I used to write every day to find my style, but that freeing mentality is something I'm always chasing and doesn't get any easier.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Zach Bryan, Wild Rivers, The Beaches, and The Big Moon.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Post Malone! He’s such a cool guy.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

For me, it's when I receive messages about how they have connected with a song or how my music has become the soundtrack to their life.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Forgetting to celebrate the wins. You can be so focused on the road ahead that you forget to enjoy the moments of success. Also, remembering not to compare and to take comfort in your own journey and trust the process.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Stick to the music you love.
