What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Guitar was my first love. It was my introduction to music performance and from the moment I learned my first riff, “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath, I was hooked! Music and guitar was just what I did from that point forward. It was like I found a purpose in life.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Heavy Metal was really what got me interested in music. My first love was Black Sabbath but that quickly morphed into Metallica, Slayer, and even heavier bands like Cradle of Filth. However, growing up in South Florida I fell in love with reggae and spent a lot of time writing and performing in reggae bands as a teenager. My musical taste is all over the place!

What was the first album you remember owning?

It was probably “American Idiot” by Green Day. This would’ve been before I picked up a guitar and started playing music but still to this day that album rocks and is something I consistently come back to. There isn’t a bad track on that album.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

It honestly changes. I remember feeling so passionate about “Wish You Were Here” by Incubus because at that time in my life it resonated with where I was personally and emotionally. However, at this very moment it might be “Fell On Black Days” by Soundgarden or really anything by Nirvana.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

No rituals but I write something new everyday. It might just be a silly guitar part but every time I pick up an instrument I try to do something I have never done before. I don’t practise scales, I practise songwriting.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I recently moved to the UK and have been getting exposed to these young small bands. Artists like She Drew The Gun, Bonk, Blue Jean, and The Mysterines. All of them really stand out to me as great artists and songwriters.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Probably the Foo Fighters but it is difficult to say because there are so many artists that seem like they would be great to play shows with. Post Malone is another one. He seems super genuine and I think playing shows together would be a blast even if we don’t perfectly align musically.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Getting to wake up every morning and do what you love. It’s the best feeling. Then when people take the time to listen (and enjoy) your songs it takes you to another world. It’s very special.

And what is the most frustrating part?

The most frustrating part for me is being a “one man band”. I really enjoy collaborating and working with other musicians. So if you like my music and want to play together, hit me up. I don’t care where you’re located!

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Geddy Lee of Rush once told me “Keep Writing”. It is the perfect advice because the more you write the better you get. Thank you Geedy.
