After following up their much-loved 2022 LP 'Awaken' with the vibrant comeback singles 'Shine' and a cover of Avicii's 'Wake Me Up' in recent months, Irish outfit Roving Crows are back on the grind once again with their uplifting new effort 'Dirty Habits 2.0'.
Bringing back more of that fun and infectious folk-inspired aesthetic they are known for, 'Dirty Habits 2.0' makes for an incredibly bright and jovial listen. With its toe-tapping energy perfectly set to some bouncing hooks throughout, they are returning with one of their most enjoyable offerings to date here.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their background and what has been inspiring them most lately.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): Good music.
Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): Irish traditional music and indie-rock.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): The best of John Lee Hooker.
Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): Foo Fighters - the colour and the shape.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): So many; Ride On, Imagine, Still Crazy After All These Years, and so many more.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): No, I write as I feel it that moment.
Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): No not really.. but it needs to be quiet and I need to be in the right frame of mind, then just write from then heart.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): Priscilla Block; Kula Shaker; Afro Celt SoundSystem.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): Performing.
Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): Performing for sure!
And what is the most frustrating part?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): Not Performing.
Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): As an independent artist, it's hard sometimes to keep your head above water, keep the vision strong, and keep going. It's frustrating when people just don't answer.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Paul O'Neill (frontman, singer, guitarist, and co-founder): Don't Stop Performing.
Caitlin Barrett (fiddle player and co-founder): Get a better quality instrument, the best you can afford.
