After his highly-praised single 'Cry For Love' found support with the likes of BBC Introducing upon its release, London-based artist, producer and songwriter Ryan Doyle is now looking to continue his vibrant ascent with the dreamy new offering 'Closer'.
Channelling the same rich and sweeping alt-pop energy as acts like The 1975 and SG Lewis, 'Closer' makes for a wonderfully sweet and shimmering listen. With its warm and embracing textures, soaring atmosphere, and luxurious hooks layered throughout, he is cementing himself as one of the more captivating names on the rise right now.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The first instrument I played, and my real entry into music, was the guitar at aged 4. However, I think when I really started to love an instrument was the piano when I started learning how to produce.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I remember being surrounded by my parents’ favourite artists when I was growing up, Lemar, Alicia Keyes, Bob Marley. But Avicii was the one who got me into dance music. The True album will always be one of my favourites.
What was the first album you remember owning?
I can’t remember if it’s the first, but The Greatest Hits of Michael Jackson (or something along those lines) is the one that always sticks in the memory.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Whitney Houston – How Will I Know. The original was a masterpiece and to see all the new versions and remixes just show how timeless a song it is.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Other than starting sessions by listening to reference songs to set the tone, not really! I have a bank of lyric ideas on my phone which I take into session and have production demos made but they’re not really habits!
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
NOTD, 33 Below, Joy Anonymous, Fred Again.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
His melodies and early remixes are what got me into producing music so to open for him would be a nice full circle moment.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Release day 100%! Seeing people listen to, and enjoy, the songs I’ve been working on for so long is by far my favourite part.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Waiting for release day!
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Don’t rush and do things in your own time. Everyone is on their own path and journey, there’s no need to compare.
