Following up the release of their much-loved debut single 'Going There' last year, San Diego-based outfit The Silver Devils now kick off their 2021 campaign with this uplifting new offering 'Silver Cat'.
Described as "an emotional plea for compassion through turmoil", 'Silver Cat' sees the group return in stellar form. With a warm and relaxed attitude rubbing shoulders with killer hooks and driven riffs, this new delight will have you dreaming of the summer sun in no time.
So with the single available now, we sat down with the band's Demetrio Donzelli to find out more about his influences and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The guitar was like a childhood friend that I had a falling out with, then met again when I was older and more ready for it. That kind of love.
But my first love was the clarinet. I never played the clarinet, but I had a crush on a girl who played the clarinet. She made sounds with her clarinet as smooth as her midnight eyes.
What kind of music did you love as a teenager?
Coheed and Cambria. Every. Single. Album. Every. Single. Comic. Claudio Sanchez is a goddamn marvel of modern man.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
“Affection” by Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Not really. Whenever I have an idea for something or get that special feeling, I have to follow through on it no matter where I am or how long I think it’s going to take.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Right now I’m listening to Frank Zappa’s entire discography, I particularly like the album “We’re Only in it For the Money” under his band, The Mothers of Invention.
How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?
I’m always writing songs for people or songs that I would like to perform to people. One song I’ve written for our upcoming album is named after a particular girl. I haven’t played the song for her yet, but I hope she likes it.
What has been the funniest or most unusual moment in your career so far?
We started getting some performance experience by busking in San Diego underneath a railroad by Torrey Pines State Beach. One time we were playing and a car stopped in the middle of a one way road. He rolled down his window, and seemed to be liking the music as he clapped and sang along. He stayed parked in that spot so long that he was holding up traffic, but instead of adhering to the honking horns of the cars stuck behind him, he clapped louder and sang louder until the cars behind him had no choice but to join in. I thought it was pretty funny, but I had to keep my composure to keep singing. Everyone else was cracking up.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Ben went to a Mom Jeans concert a long time ago and asked their lead singer for an autograph. He declined, but when Ben turned around he saw him taking pictures with a bunch of pretty girls.
So if Eric Butler, we’re gonna open for you one day, and we’re gonna get your autograph… asshole.
If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?
I have directed a couple short films as well as written some full length screenplays, so I would probably want to go into the film industry as a writer/director.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Try everything.
