From four local lads, larking around Liverpool, to supporting The Wombats, Mallory Knox and Bloxx, RIVIA are set to take their ragtag mission across the UK, plugging more than just a new single. Their penchant for combining 80s classic rock and 00s alt-rock has lead to consistent support from Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton, as they look to take that support to the next lebel with stadium-ready choruses and unrivalled live energy.
Maybe someday it'll get them to support someone like Foo Fighters - I wonder if the lads would be interested in such an offer. Let's see...
What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Guitar has always been interesting to me, crunchy rock tones have always caught my attention.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Rock and metal! But I also love movie and video game OST's.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Busted, loved them and still do!
What is the one song you wished you could have written yoursel?
'Boys of Summer' - Don Henley; absolute tune!
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Usually, I play on my acoustic guitar first and then transition whatever over with the lads to full band. I've always found it easier starting out on acoustic.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
The Dangerous Summer and Ozzy Osbourne - who doesn't love Ozzy.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
FOO FIGHTERS. It has to be. Although, I don't think we could ever get over it if we did.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Making people smile / forget about their problems, as well as having people sing your own music back to you. That's a feeling we'll never not enjoy.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Behind the scenes, so much effort can be put into social media these days and it can take the enjoyment out of doing what we love.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Be who you are and play the music you want to play.
