Gil Scott Heron's final album 'Nothing New' released digitally

Gil Scott Heron's final album 'Nothing New' has been made available for digital download via XL Recordings to commemorate what would have been the poet's 66th birthday yesterday (1st April).

The original limited-edition vinyl copy of the album was released for 2014's Record Store Day, and was made up of a collection of unreleased work he produced with Richard Russell between 2005-2009, prior to his 2010 album 'I'm New Here'.

There is also a feature documentary about the artist, ‘Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?’, directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, which has been released alongside the album via iTunes.
