Haim - 'Something To Tell You'

8/10

When Haim dropped their landmark debut album 'Days Are Gone' back in 2013, it was most definitely a moment for sun-kissed indie music the world over. Becoming an instant smash with its subtle throwbacks to the influences of Michael Jackson and Fleetwood Mac, the sisters have clearly taken their time in building its follow-up and return with their highly-anticipated sophomore full-length 'Something To Tell You', a record that truly cements their sound and intentions.

While 'Days Are Gone' certainly made a good case in conceiving the Haim style, 'Something To Tell You' continues that same direction but in a slightly different context. If their debut was made to lounging in the summer sun, this release is designed for long road trips. With some slight gear changes in pace, their latest material shows a band looking for new avenues to develop their sound and deliver a similar record that still has its own character.

And while four years away after such a great debut may have been long for some, it was certainly worth the wait as 'Something To Tell You' is jam-packed with sunshine anthems and a positive glow. A fantastic return and just what we have needed so far this year.
