Harrison Brome - 'Stars At Midnight'

8/10

Over the last decade, Canadian artist Harrison Brome has been seen as one of the more adventurous names doing the rounds. His previous EPs 'Strange' and 'No More Love Songs' have cemented himself as true innovator on the scene, blending his distinctive style with a commercial edge to create a wonderfully fresh and inviting sound. And after an incredibly prolific 2023, he is now back for the new year with his latest EP 'Stars At Midnight', a release that sees him build upon those already illuminating foundations.

Much like what we have heard from him lately, 'Stars At Midnight' explores more of that rich and immersive atmosphere he is known for. With nods to a soul-inspired aesthetic that fits perfectly into his progressive pop ambitions, this new five-track collection makes for a beautifully warm and embracing listen. With each track creating this incredibly cohesive layer between them, giving it a firm and succinct momentum throughout, he is kicking off his 2024 with one of his most impactful outings to date.

While these last few years have certainly been a great time for invention and self-discovery, Harrison Brome remains in his most confident guise yet. Brimming with warm and woozy emotion at every turn, 'Stars At Midnight' is a perfect return from one of Canada's more exciting talents.
