Hauspoints - 'Eel Feeling'

7/10

Over the past year, UK outfit Hauspoints have been busy establishing themselves as one of the more innovative names on the rise. Blending a heady mix of post-punk, indie-rock, and psychedelica in order to create their distinctive direction, their tenure to date has been filled with this vibrant array of progressive anthems, all looking to build upon what has come before. And after plenty of praise and acclaim for their recent run of releases, they are now cementing their legacy to date with this explorative debut album 'Eel Feeling', a record that showcases that varied approach they have looked to cultivate since they first arrived.

Inspired by a faulty car radio transmitter owned by frontman Palmo that would intermittently switch frequencies without warning, 'Eel Feeling' looks to replicate this jaunty experience by continuously throwing up new and interesting ideas in which to explore. Maintaining a strong and forward-thinking approach to its aesthetic as often as possible, their initial full-length introduces them to the fold with sheer gusto and aplomb as they look to offer up a swaggering array of guitar-driven delights from start to finish.

Very much doubling down on those electrifying textures they have earned a solid reputation for in recent months, 'Eel Feeling' comes across as this wildly adventurous listen, brimming with surprises throughout. They may still be within the infancy of their career right now, but Hauspoints are certainly looking to turn some heads with this enjoyable new collection.
