HEALTH - 'Death Magic'

7/10

Having not released a studio album in six years, the time away has not been ill-spent by the US industrial outfit HEALTH. After providing scores and original soundtracks to a number of computer games including Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto V, the dark and brooding band have kept themselves on top of their game as they return to deliver their third full-length 'Death Magic'.

Previously described as a more accessible version of Nine Inch Nails, the group have managed to retain this more commercial side to their musical direction and its resulting form on 'Death Magic' makes for a very interesting listen. While creating a darkened atmosphere is this band's main focus, the sheer diversity throughout their music is simply astounding and creates a record with huge amounts of depth and creativity.

It's clear that the band have been sitting on a number of ideas over the last six years and 'Death Magic' seems to be their purge. An eclectic and inviting full-length for those looking for more of an edge to their musical tastes.
