Hearts - 'EP2'

8/10

When Swedish outfit Hearts released the dazzling 'EP1' last year, it was met with seminal praise and acclaim across the new music realm. Capturing the same vibrant energy that has made today's indie-rock arena such a formidable force, they have spent many of the months since building their reputation for instant classics and rapturous anthems with a string of widely-regarded new singles. And with that buzz building for them once again, they return for 2024 with their explosive new entry 'EP2', a collection that continues that dynamic streak once again.

Much like what their initial offering looked to deliver, 'EP2' makes for an extremely fun and lively listen. Brimming with these broad and tantalising textures, not to mention a bustling array of infectious guitar hooks across its four-track runtime, their newest EP marks another euphoric moment in their fast-rising presence once again. With tracks like 'What Do You Want Kid?' and its spectacular opener 'In Over Our Heads' keeping pace with the juggernauts on the scene, they continue to cement themselves as a shining light that is always searching for the biggest and most engaging direction they can possibly muster.

They may not have been with us very long, but Hearts are establishing themselves as something very special here. 'EP2' is not just a continuation of intent, but finds them in a truly distinctive and creative guise, one that will no doubt serve them well as they venture on through this captivating journey of theirs.
