Hollow Coves - 'Nothing To Lose'

7/10

When Australian duo Hollow Coves first broke through with their highly-praised debut LP 'Moments' back in 2019, they were greeted as one of the more exciting names arriving on the scene that year. With their warm and woozy folk-pop style perfectly adding a much needed layer of levity to the genre, they quickly established themselves as a name worth remembering. But with the pandemic stifling their plans for touring, they have been hauled away working towards this, their long-awaited sophomore studio album 'Nothing To Lose', a record that looks to rebuild that initial buzz once again.

From the very start, 'Nothing To Lose' sees the pair in one of their most captivating guises yet. Still very much a bright and dreamy outfit, this new collection adds yet another vital catalogue to their already immersive tenure of late. While not much of an evolution between this and their formative release, the production prowess of Matt Corby gives it a beautifully warm and endearing flow, something they have always looked to explore and maintain.

While it has been a long five years since their last LP, Hollow Coves have certainly been putting that time to good use. Brimming with this rich and immersive confidence throughout, 'Nothing To Lose' sees them returning to the fold with a wonderfully passionate offering.
