Jack White - 'No Name'

8/10

After the rapturous response to his highly-praised dual albums 'Fear Of The Dawn' and 'Entering Heaven Alive' in 2022, it felt as though Jack White had entered a new age within his musical evolution. Returning to those broad and anthemic guitar-driven grooves he first emerged with, the records heralded a new beginning for him, one that built upon his dynamic foundations over the years. And after sneaking this release into shopping bags at his own Third Man Records store over the last few months, he has now released his eagerly-awaited new studio LP 'No Name', a record that continues those vibrant pursuits.

Much like what his previous endeavours were exploring, 'No Name' is a raw and driven return to the grizzled blues-rock sound of his youth. Brimming with this bold and tenacious attitude, matched with a particularly rustic approach to production to boot, his latest full-length is a broad and bustling array of belters, all wrapped up within his own charismatic persona at every turn.

While some of his previous solo material felt like he had lost his edge, 'No Name' proves that he is back with a vengeance throughout. Opting for bigger and more euphoric anthems as it plays, Jack White is certainly pulling his A-game for this one.
