JERUB - 'Carry The Load'

8/10

Throughout his dynamic career to date, rising UK artist JERUB has been a breath of fresh air to the current neo-soul scene. Taking cues from many of his contemporaries and reinventing their direction in order to create something more distinctive to himself has resulted in this wildly immersive aesthetic that feels far more anthemic than most. And after conjuring even more acclaim for his 'Finding My Feet' EP last year, he is now back once again to deliver his latest EP 'Carry The Load', a collection brimming with more of that innovative spirit he is known for.

Kicking off with its euphoric title-track, 'Carry The Load' instantly sets itself up as one of his most euphoric offerings to date. Continuing to explore more of that broad and riveting direction he has honed over the last few years, JERUB finds himself in a bright and enigmatic guise here. With tracks like 'What If' and 'Gonna Be Okay' adding the commercial flair his material has always looked to cultivate, this new seven-track collection marks one of his most ambitious and adventurous releases so far.

JERUB has already found huge praise for his previous work, but 'Carry The Load' shows that he is still looking to push his sound even further to unearth a new and interesting angle in which to take him. Brimming with fresh ideas and an explosive production, he continues to cement himself as one of the more exciting names on the rise with this one.
