As the band prepare for a huge European tour with Placebo later this year, The Joy Formidable have now released a new EP, featuring unheard acoustic versions and cover songs.
The new EP 'Sleep Is Day' includes covers of David Bowie's 'Ashes To Ashes', and 'Angelfuck' by The Misfits, as well as 'Hitch' album track 'Liana', a song that has inspired them to create a pledge drive for the Sumatran Orangutan Society.
“We read a tweet by the naturalist and conservationist Bill Oddie where he was lamenting the destruction of the lianas in the orangutans’ natural habitat," explains singer Ritzy Bryan. "Once we started reading about the crisis the orangutan was facing, it set the wheels in motion for us wanting to raise some money.” Several items are to be sold by the band, including artwork, merchandise and one of Ritzy’s Fender guitars.
The 'Sleep Is Day' EP is available now and you can donate to the band's pledge page here. Check out the video for 'Liana' and see the EP's full tracklisting below.
