Kodaclips - 'Gone Is The Day'

7/10

Over these last few years, Italian outfit Kodaclips have gone to great strides to add something new and interesting to the fuzzy shoegaze scene. Blending the raw and driven traditions of the genre with something more palpable for a modern ear, the band have quickly earned a reputation for broad and emotive releases, all adding a fresher perspective with every new offering. And with their breakthrough LP 'Glances' cementing their presence in 2022, they are now back once again with their shimmering sophomore album 'Gone Is The Day', a record that continues that riveting ascent once again.

Bringing back more of that bold and tantalising aesthetic they first emerged with, 'Gone Is The Day' makes for a wonderfully bright and evocative evolution of their sound so far. With its soaring atmosphere set to some brilliantly immersive guitar hooks from start to finish, their newest collection finds them in fine form throughout. Whether it is the dark and gloomy appeal of 'Viola' or the spritely energy of 'Fall Apart', Kodaclips are returning to us with some of their more explorative material to date here.

It has certainly been an impactful time for them these last few years, but 'Gone Is The Day' shows there is still plenty of innovative spirit coursing through them right now. Brimming with this adventurous vigour from start to finish, Kodaclips certainly feel stronger and more confident than ever on this new outing.
