Larando Suave - 'Midnight Gardening Club'

7/10

Despite only releasing his much-loved debut EP 'Ghost Train' last year, Dallas-based artist and producer Larando Suave is already establishing himself as one of the more prolific names on the rise right now. Returning in April to deliver his vibrant debut album 'Secret Garden', a record that brought plenty of esteemed praise and acclaim his way, he now explores more of that vibrant aesthetic he is building for himself with his sophomore EP 'Midnight Gardening Club', a release that pushes his dynamic sound further than ever.

While very much akin to the classic hip-hop direction for much of his catalogue to date, 'Midnight Gardening Club' feels like a far more exploratory outing than his previous material. Blending the smooth and driven beats he is known for with a more rock-focused identity from beginning to end, this new four-track collection finds him in an extremely experimental guise throughout. Creating this brilliantly absorbing aura that broadens his immersive style once again, he returns to us with some brilliantly innovative new offerings here.

Although his career is still in its infancy right now, the progressive nature of Suave's work is undeniable. Reemerging with some of his most ambitious ideas to date, 'Midnight Gardening Club' is a strong and driven return from a truly adventurous addition to the new music scene today.
