The Lemon Twigs - 'A Dream Is All We Know'

7/10

Throughout their illustrious tenure to date, The Lemon Twigs sound has always been one that searches through the past to find something more distinctive for their future. Usually compared to the dreamy surf-rock acts of the 1960s and 70s, the duo have always maintained a steady foothold in both their retro influences, while also keep their direction as contemporary as possible. And with their previous outing 'Everything Harmony' proving their most revered release to date, they look to capitalise on that recent success with their fifth studio album 'A Dream Is All We Know', a record that beams with nostalgic energy from start to finish.

Much like their aesthetic so far, 'A Dream Is All We Know' matches the same effervescent appeal they have already built to work perfectly with a warm, sunny day. Keeping the atmosphere and glossy textures as rich as possible, their newest offering is a wonderfully inviting exploration of their distinctive style to date. Keeping the instrumentation as innovative as possible, these two make light work of their joyous endeavour and continue that spirited nature they are known for.

Still very much in the same vein as always, 'A Dream Is All We Know' answers the old adage; "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Beautifully arranged and produced throughout, The Lemon Twigs are simply too blissful not to get swept up by.
