Local Natives - 'Time Will Wait For No One'

8/10

Ever since they first emerged, LA's Local Natives have been seen as one of the more progressive names on the indie-rock circuit. While not completely achieving the commercial success many of their fans and critics feel they deserve, they have been happily working the fringes of the mainstream, churning out a wealth of rich and riveting gems for the last decade and a half. And as they return from their pandemic-enforced hiatus, they look to revive that initial spark with their fifth studio album 'Time Will Wait For No One', a record brimming with fresh and exciting textures.

From the very start, 'Time Will Wait For No One' looks to stand as one of their most emotive and atmospheric entries to date. Capitalising on the spiritual direction much of their material has taken in recent years, this new collection sees them in a confident and assured light as they deliver one beautifully composed effort after another. Keeping very much in line with where their aesthetic has been heading recently, their latest offering marks a beautifully warm and passionate moment in their repertoire to date.

While many in their field usually begin to come undone at this point in their career, Local Natives feel like they are only getting better with age and experience. Showcasing some of their most alluring songwriting to date, they continue to secure themselves as one of the more enticing names doing the rounds right now.
