The Lounge Society - 'Tired Of Liberty'

7/10

Over the last few years, emerging indie label Speedy Wunderground has been at the forefront of some of the most exciting new names on the block. Supporting new and undiscovered talent that fits their rustic aesthetic, Yorkshire's The Lounge Society have been one of their most heralded signing to date, regularly exceeding expectations with everything they produce. And after a few years to figure out their next move, they have returned to unveil their eagerly-awaited debut studio album 'Tired Of Liberty', a record that looks to cement their glittering legacy to date.

Joined in the studio alongside Speedy Wunderground's own head honcho Dan Carey, who has already produced chart topping LPs for both Wet Leg and Fontaines DC this year, 'Tired Of Liberty' aims to bring their bold and inventive direction to the forefront. While the sprechgesang-inspired post-punk sound has certainly been one of the standout sounds of 2022 already, The Lounge Society have certainly injected this aesthetic with their own explosive and energetic flair, regularly adopting dark and atmospheric textures to bring a more haunted aura to their sound throughout.

While they remain a band that wear their influences firmly on their sleeves, 'Tired Of Liberty' still makes for a brilliantly rousing listen. Brimming with this ever-fast-paced flow running the length of this new collection, they are bringing the excitement back to underground indie-rock in a way very few are pulling off right now.
