Love Ghost x Skold - 'Love Ghost x Skold'

7/10

Over these last few years, US artist Love Ghost has been seen as one of the more prolific and inventive names doing the rounds. Regularly releasing a flurry of new material that seeks to blend the worlds of alt-pop, pop-punk, and alt-rock as often as possible, his tenure to date has been this wildly explorative one as he looks to establish himself as one of the more forward-thinking entities doing the rounds. Now teaming up with the legendary Skold, the pair deliver their first self-titled collaborative LP, a record that explores a more diverse direction than ever before.

While the previously shared outings have given us a strong idea of what to expect from this new release, 'Love Ghost x Skold' looks to push both of their creative boundaries as far as they will go. Exploring this heady mix of vibrant grooves with a raw and explosive energy at every turn, their first team-up makes for a hell of an introduction to both of their innovative ambitions over the years, Whether they are developing a broad and emotive aesthetic or something more subdued, the pair always manage to find something new and interesting in which to explore throughout.

It has certainly been a busy time for both of them recently, but 'Love Ghost x Skold' stands as a truly unique and compelling addition to their ever-evolving catalogues. Oozing with this unpredictable edge as it plays, Love Ghost and Skold continue their reputations as two of the more distinctive names on today's alt-rock scene.
