Luke Sital-Singh - 'Time Is A Riddle'

7/10

After emerging back in 2014 to deliver his stunning breakthrough album 'The Fire Inside', singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh never really kept himself in hiding as he worked on his follow-up. The crooning frontman released a flurry of singles and EPs in the last few years, all leading to build up and form the sound of his sophomore full-length 'Time Is A Riddle', a record that was clearly not made in any kind of rush.

Usually when an artist looks to follow up such a big debut release, they normally either reinvent themselves or evolve their direction to show a greater level of depth within their songwriting. 'Time Is A Riddle' is most certainly the latter, where rather than fix himself into that singer-songwriter/man-with-a-guitar bubble, Sital-Singh has given us a well-rounded collection of tracks that emphasis a greater use of production and instrumentation, all with Luke remaining very much the focus of the release.

The album likes to flip its mood between sombre and a more energetic pace, helping to keep the flow of the record forever moving forward and showcasing a real diversity in the identity of the frontman. A confident and progressive return from one of the UK's most well-loved new artists.
