M. Dunton - 'M. Dunton'

8/10

Ever since he first emerged, Nashville's M. Dunton has always ventured towards a more lovelorn aesthetic than most. Spending much of the last few years dabbling with an immersive array of heartbreaking odes and shimmering ballads, he has quickly cemented himself as one of the more passionate names doing the rounds, heightened by his own progressive approach to songwriting. And after a wealth of highly-praised efforts under his belt, he now delivers his long-awaited self-titled debut album, a record brimming with more of that confident aura he is known for.

Throughout this short yet captivating eight-track collection, M. Dunton finds and explores a wondrous array of textures in which to call his own. Continuing down that path of rich and atmospheric acoustic-led serenades throughout this new release, 'M. Dunton' is not merely a snapshot of his glittering career to date, but also an insight into his beautifully emotive mind, one that is hard to come by in today's indie-folk scene.

With such a powerful and evocative approach to his direction, this new LP is a marvellous wonder within his repertoire so far. Bringing yet more tender tones to his already immaculate catalogue to date, he continues to shine as one of the more alluring names currently working his way through the ranks.
