MØ - 'Motordrome'

8/10

Over the last decade, we have watched as Danish artist MØ aimed to create a more progressive and adventurous direction in the commercial world of pop. With numerous breakthrough hits in her infancy, she has used her well-established platform to pursue a broader approach to the genre, regularly breaking down conventions to achieve her goal. And with her sophomore LP 'Forever Neverland' maintaining itself as a staple of modern pop music, she now returns with her third full-length 'Motordrome', a record that brings even more vibrant light to her glittering sound.

From the very start, MØ looks to make 'Motordrome' a bold and exciting release from start to finish. Inviting numerous creditable songwriters and producers such as Caroline Ailin, Noonie Bao, Jam City, S.G. Lewis and many more to aid in advancing her vision, this ten-track collection looks to pack itself with as many rich and atmospheric additions as possible. While it isn't too interested in the bigger and more anthemic side of her sound, there is this driven thread of euphoria behind each of the offerings, delivering a spellbinding and captivating listen throughout.

MØ may not have the bill-topping identity she deserves, but 'Motordrome' certainly make a bold bid for one of the most interesting pop albums of the year. She has this wonderfully passionate guise that remains playful at every chance, creating a fresh and enjoyable release, packed with slick and impressive ideas.
