Maggie Rogers - 'Don't Forget Me'

8/10

Ever since she first emerged with her breakthrough debut LP 'Heard It In A Past Life' in 2019, Maggie Rogers has been one of the more revered additions to today's pop scene. Skirting the lines between commercial appeal and a more adventurous aesthetic than most, her career to date has been filled with widespread praise and acclaim, all honing in on her unique approach to songwriting. And with her 2022 sophomore effort 'Surrender' keeping the momentum alive, she returns once again with her third studio album 'Don't Forget Me', a record that continues that efferent intention.

What seems most distinctive about this new collection is its lack of glossy mainstream ideals. While still very much exploring that dynamic pop arena, 'Don't Forget Me' feels far more organic than anything we have heard from her before. Stripping back the shimmering production in exchange for a more rustic direction that sees her adopt an almost Stevie Nicks-esque aura, she returns to the fold with a wonderfully innovative new sound that broadens her musical evolution further than ever.

Maggie Rogers has always had an edge to her, but 'Don't Forget Me' shows there is still plenty of adventurous spirit coursing through her. Brimming with this rich and emotive texture from start to finish, she returns with one of her most confident and engaging releases yet.
