Mercury Prize 2022 nominees announced

After Arlo Parks walked away with the top prize at last year's event, the nominees for the 2022 Mercury Prize have now been announced.

Little Simz, Self Esteem, Wet Leg, Harry Styles and many more make up this year's shortlist, with the final winner being crowned on the 8th September. This year's awards show will take place at London's Eventim Apollo, and will be judged by Anna Calvi, Loyle Carner, Annie Mac, Jamie Cullum, Jamz Supernova and Hazel Wilde.

Wet Leg have been nominated for their self-titled debut album, with the band stating, “It’s been just over a year since our first gig and we are all still in shock at where this journey has taken us. When we started the band, we never really thought we’d get the opportunity to make any recordings at all, let alone a whole album…and now to have that album nominated for a Mercury has left us absolutely lost for words. We feel very lucky that we got to make the album that we made. Thanks to everyone who helped us along the way. Feeling very proud and grateful today.”
