Mia Loucks - 'Light It Can Blind You'

7/10

Over these last few years, LA-based singer-songwriter Mia Loucks has been busy crafting a warm and invigorating direction in which to call her own. Dabbling with a rich and wistful folk-inspired aesthetic across her dynamic tenure to date, she has quickly carved a niche for smooth and welcoming croons that perfectly elevate her tender vocal style at every turn. And after making her long-awaited return to deliver her much-loved 'Sisko Sisko Demos' LP earlier this year, she is back once again with her newest EP 'Light It Can Blind You', a collection that broadens her immersive sound so far.

Much like what we have come to love about her in recent times, 'Light It Can Blind You' channels yet more of that broad and emotionally-charged appeal she has been cultivating over the years. Using little more than softly played instrumentation to aid in her impactful songwriting across all three tracks, her latest endeavour finds her in a wonderfully heartfelt guise once again. A sweet and simple continuation of her work to date, Mia Loucks looks to adopt some beautifully riveting textures across this new EP.

2024 has certainly been one of her more productive years yet, but 'Light It Can Blind You' still manages to find new and exciting ideas in which to pursue. Brimming with such flair and finesse towards her sound, she has certainly looked to make this year the one that sees her break out into wider and more ambitious avenues.
