Mrs. Henry - 'Keep On Rising'

7/10

Throughout the last decade, US outfit Mrs. Henry have been one of the more explorative names doing the rounds. Taking their euphoric cues from the classic rock sound and rebranding them for a modern ear, their tenure to date has been filled with broad and anthemic efforts, all building upon their dynamic foundations to date. And after finding even more praise and acclaim for last year's LP 'Music From Big Pink', they are now back once again to deliver their sprawling rock-opera 'Keep On Rising', a bold and adventurous delve into their most ambitious ideas to date.

At an incredible thirty-eight tracks in length, 'Keep On Rising' is no casual listen. But despite its lengthy runtime, Mrs. Henry find themselves in an incredibly inventive guise as they make light work of this new collection, creating some brilliant vivid and inviting textures as it plays. Much like the traditional feel of a rock-opera, this new offering ebbs and flows with emotion and vigour, keeping the momentum moving ever forward and rarely faltering to something that feels uninspired throughout.

While the record doesn't always manage to intrigue from start to finish, there is more than enough vibrancy running through 'Keep On Rising' to keep you listening to the very end. Fun and lively as often as possible, Mrs. Henry have really exceeded expectations with this one.
