My Life As A Moth - 'Miss Queenie's Jamboree'

8/10

Over these last few years, London-based Swedish artist My Life As A Moth has established herself as one of the more inventive names doing the rounds. Combining expressive pop imagery with a progressive approach to production as often as possible, her tenure to date has been widely-praised, largely thanks to her breakthrough debut EP 'Chest Of Dress Up' in 2022. And after recently returning with her much-loved comeback single 'Heated Heart' earlier this year, she is now cementing her dynamic legacy to date with her eagerly-awaited debut album 'Miss Queenie's Jamboree', a record that continues those adventurous pursuits she is known for.

While plenty has already been said about her progressive endeavours over the years, 'Miss Queenie's Jamboree' shows there is still plenty of fresh and captivating ideas coursing through her right now. Creating this brilliantly alluring atmosphere in which to spread her emotive vocal performance, this new twelve-track collection makes for a brilliantly absorbing listen throughout. Breathing this sense of arid warmth across her newest outing, My Life As A Moth is certainly looking to make a lasting impact with this dazzling new release.

It has certainly been an expressive time for her over the years, but 'Miss Queenie's Jamboree' shows she is still very much on top of her creative game right now. Brimming with this fantastical sense of exploration and self-discovery, it certainly feels like she is only scratching the surface of her potential with this one.
