Mysteries - 'New Age Music Is Here'

7/10

Despite keeping their identities anonymous for the build up to the release of their debut album, three-piece outfit Mysteries have no real reason to stay out of the spotlight. There record has attracted the attention of many industry bigwigs and their music is good enough for them not to need a gimmick, so this is one of those rare cases where they have opted not to be identified purely to keep the focus on the music.

The slightly arrogantly titled 'New Age Music Is Here' is a varied and diverse affair, where the band have looked to take on a whole host of different influences in search of finding their own unique sound. The outcome is a jumbled mix of irreverent indie rock and international inspiration that gives this album far more depth than most and ultimately brings out a hugely experimental side to the group. Comparing them to anyone else would be fruitless as the record moves from one sound to the next between every track but never loses focus on its direction, and in the end creates an engaging and interesting listen to the end.

While we still have no idea about who they are or where they have come from, it is clear that they have a huge passion for creating new paths for their own music and in the end have delivered a fantastic debut record with all the hallmarks of a band who have been doing this for years.
