Nils Frahm - 'All Melody'

7/10

Over the years, we have seen producer Nils Frahm grow from a humble, ambient producer through to one of the most interesting and diverse musicians in the world. His music has the ability to touch parts of your soul like no one can, and give the listener a truly immersive experience. But after the love and praise he received for his 2015 album 'Solo', the beatmaker lets out his playful side on the ninth LP 'All Melody'.

While much of his work to date could easily be pigeonholed into that ethereal world of light sounds and haunting soundscapes, Frahm's work on this new album sees him break away from his usual direction and adopt a far more exciting concept. With touches of flair and eccentricities throughout, 'All Melody' pitches itself as the more excitable side of his catalogue, offering up more than just a simple premise and seeing him mess around a lot more with sounds and ideas.

While we know this producer's work extremely well, it is still nice to see him break away sometimes and try new experiments here and there. It shows that even after nine albums over the last two decades, he is far from running low on inspiration.
