Noak Hellsing - 'YESTERYEAR'

8/10

Despite still only 20-years-old, Swedish artist Noak Hellsing has been going strong since his debut single 'Lost' back in 2019. Spending the bulk of his teenage years delivering a wealth of bright and enigmatic offerings, he has been the darling of the Scandinavian pop scene in recent years, delivering a far more immersive array of delights in the last few months. And with the buzz behind him higher than ever, he now delivers his long-awaited debut EP 'YESTERYEAR', a release brimming with fresh and diverse ideas.

While his sound has largely kept to a vibrant alt-pop appeal, for 'YESTERYEAR', he is spreading his creative wings further than ever as he adopts a more eclectic ambition this time around. With his dreamlike voice remains the heart and soul of this new six-track collection, he is showcasing his more adaptable nature with a string of varied offerings that bring out his adventurous nature, making for a wonderfully warm and tantalising listen from start to finish.

This new EP may have been a long time coming, but Noak Hellsing shows that he properly taken his time here, giving 'YESTERYEAR' as much breathing space as possible. He may still be in the infancy of his career right now, but these new offerings show that he still has plenty of room to grow as well.
