NOFX - 'Double Album'

7/10

Over the last forty years, there has been no-one quite like NOFX on the international punk scene. Not just a figurehead for the genre at large, but also a regular cheerleader of new and exciting bands coming to the fold, building their legacy as one of the most important names to be doing the rounds today. But with the announcement that 2023 would be their final year together, NOFX are looking to finish their illustrious career with a bang as they deliver their fifteenth studio album 'Double Album', a record that sees them bow out in just as much ferocious energy as they have always looked to project.

Named as an accompanying release to last year's 'Single Album', this new collection feels far more like a retrospective take than one that is looking to do something new, which makes sense given the band's impending break-up on the horizon. From the very start, 'Double Album' is all about reviving the classic NOFX sound and delivering a flurry of fresh and energetic tracks to whip out at their forthcoming final tour. And while it doesn't quite have the same edge as their more familiar work, it still makes for an enjoyable romp throughout.

NOFX may be calling it quits, but 'Double Album' shows that they still have plenty of fire burning within them. Adventurous and creative as often as possible, and still staying true to their core sound, this curtain call is a solid fan-service release that caps of their incredible legacy with aplomb.
