Porches - 'Shirt'

7/10

Throughout the last decade, Aaron Maine's Porches project has been one of the more interesting additions to the pop-rock landscape. Adopting commercially angled songwriting with this broad and adventurous approach to production, their tenure to date has been this wild blend of anthemic offerings that always seek to deliver something new and interesting to the scene. And after rekindling much of their initial magic for the highly-praised 2021 LP 'All Day Gentle Hold !', they are now back with their sixth studio album 'Shirt', a record that continues more of that innovative pursuit.

Much like what their career has offered up in the past, 'Shirt' continues to explore more of that bold and dynamic aesthetic they are known for. Cultivating this brilliantly rich and vibrant atmosphere in which to explore, while also doubling down on the electrifying energy they usually add into the mix, their newest collection finds them in brilliantly progressive spirits as they look to make this release one of their more impactful to date.

While it doesn't have much in the way of standout singles littered within, 'Shirt' still makes for a strong and confident return from start to finish. Keeping the momentum ever moving forward with its lively pace and flow, Porches return to the fold with a fresh and spirited collection, brimming with fascinating ideas throughout.
