Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - 'Fronzoli'

7/10

Over the last few years, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have cemented themselves as one of the more exciting and distinctive names on the modern psych-rock scene. While usually lumped in with the likes of Tame Impala and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, given their Australian connection, the band have been quick to separate themselves from many of their contemporaries, largely thanks to an unbridled energy they always seek. And now returning with their sixth studio album 'Fronzoli', they are looking to go bigger and more anthemic than ever.

While their frenzied approach to psych-rock has always been met with intrigue and bewilderment, 'Fronzoli' feels like the band are keener than ever to keep us on our toes. With each track jam-packed with killer riffs and a distorted sensibility, their newest record is a bold and blistering return that builds upon their already eccentric catalogue to date. Although it may not be their most cohesive work to date, they are still ready to crack out some wondrous hooks to keep this release moving forward.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets always seem to have something new to explore within each of their full-lengths, but for 'Fronzoli', they are broader and more explosive than ever before. Hopefully this is just the beginning for one of their most infectious guises to date.
