As one of the last true American punk rock bands before pop punk emerged in the late 90s and divided opinion about the genre, Rancid have had a rocky time over the last decade. With sporadic releases and hiatuses, it seemed like the sun had finally set on these four veterans of the scene. But after five years out of the studio, they have returned with their eighth full-length release and it's still refreshing to hear them still have a good go at it.
While their last few releases were edging towards to poppier side to punk rock, this new release goes back to their roots as they deliver a slice of ska-inspired rock that is just too much fun to ignore. Influenced heavily by The Clash, 'Honor Is All We Know' is a jump-around, foot-stomping 14-track release with all the likability and fun-loving attitude this band built their fanbase on.
It still may not match the instant classics they have been known for, it still has that fire in it that let's you know that these boys aren't done yet.
