Salt Tree - 'Swell'

8/10

Throughout their vibrant career to date, Australian duo Salt Tree have always looked to add a more vibrant appeal to their lofty indie-folk aesthetic. Regularly adopting a brighter and more emotive presence than many in their field, their tenure so far has been filled with this beautifully rustic aesthetic that seeks out the more heartfelt moments of the human experience. And after rekindling their early magic with last year's 'Find Our Way' EP, they are back to their best once again with their newest EP 'Swell', a collection beaming with warmth and flair throughout.

Very much akin to what they have showcased in recent years, 'Swell' looks to set itself as one of their more joyous releases to date. With both artists projecting their wondrous dual vocal performances as often as possible, this new six-track collection sees them in wonderfully jovial spirits from start to finish. While much of this new outing was released as singles prior to its full delivery, hearing all of it under one roof really highlights the effervescent direction they have taken this time around, cultivating some of their most enjoyable and memorable cuts yet.

It has certainly been a busy and creative period for them recently, but Salt Tree remain very much on top of their songwriting prowess here. Offering one truly mesmerising gem after another, 'Swell' makes for the perfect accompaniment to these post-summer days.
