Sambox & Anita Barbereau - 'A New World'

7/10

Over these last few years, French composer Sambox and cellist Anita Barbereau have made quite the collaboration. While still known for their solo endeavours, the pair have regularly teamed up to create these broad and immersive delights, all adding a new and inventive perspective to their cinematic aesthetic. And after another heady run of releases together these last few months, they are back once again with their wondrous new EP 'A New World', a collection that hones more of that euphoric quality they have harnessed lately.

Travelling much in the same vein they have always looked to explore, 'A New World' makes for a beautifully transportive listen from start to finish. Adopting some brilliantly riveting textures in which to inject into their progressive pursuits at every turn, this three-track collection instantly establishes itself as one of their more alluring to date. Breathing life into these rich and captivating soundscapes throughout, both Sambox and Barbereau add their own distinctive flair across the release to produce a truly warm and inviting array of gems here.

It may have already been a busy time for them in recent months, but 'A New World' still leaves a lasting impression on their ever-expanding repertoire to date. Brimming with such an emotive focus from beginning to end, they return as one of the more compelling duos doing the rounds right now.
